FAQ

Your questions, our answers

What do you put in a kids baking kit?

Each baking kit offers a different recipe every month and includes everything you'll need to learn how to bake that food item. Step-by-step instructions and a bake along video are both provided to help you and your child perform every step of the recipe. Pre-measured ingredients and a grocery list of items make it easy to ensure that your baked goods turn out as intended. No guessing as to measurements or how many of each ingredient is needed. The color coded labels on each of the ingredients guide you along. It's all there, ready to mix and bake. Extra pastry perks, educational activity and an achievement sticker for a job well done are also part of each month's subscription box.

Why should I use a baking kit?

Baketivity was created around the idea of family. It's becoming much more difficult for kids and parents to spend time together and we believe that baking is one of the best activities that every member of the family can enjoy. Cookies, cakes, bread, any baked goods made by hand taste so much better. Our baking kits are designed to bring the family together through food and give them a chance to bond by working side by side to prep, bake, and enjoy what they've made.

Are your baking kits kosher?

Every ingredient provided inside of a Baketivity Baking Kit is certified kosher.

Do your baking kits include nuts?

No recipe card or pre-measured ingredients that are placed inside any of our baking kit call for or include nuts of any kind. But some of these ingredients have been produced in a facility that also processes nuts, soy, sesame seeds, and gluten. So it's very possible that trace amounts of these potential allergens may be found in some of our baking kit ingredients.

What equipment do I need for a baking kit?

Most of the components necessary for baking your month's subscription box are included. You will need some equipment to prep, mix, and bake the items you're planning on putting in the oven. The first thing you will need is a conventional oven. Our recipes can not be made in convection oven. Besides the proper style of oven, you will need mixing bowls, baking utensils, measuring cups, a lined baking pan, and your eagerness to learn how to bake that month's baked good. The equipment needed may change from month to another.

Can I send a baking kit as a gift?

Yes you can! We offer many different subscription packages that renew monthly, every three or six months, or on annual basis. Save money and keep those smiles coming on a regular basis. Each new baking kit box is shipped on the 10th of each month. Cancel or pause your subscription at any time. We also offer a wide variety of baking and cooking gifts for all ages, skill-levels, and interests. A birthday gift, a holiday gift, even Mothers Day, we have baking gifts, supplies, and apparel to suit any special occasion.

What age should a child start cooking?

Children of any age can participate in the cooking and baking process with adult supervision. Some preparatory skills such as rinsing produce, mixing, and cutting soft ingredients can be done by kids as young as four years old. As they get older, they can pick up fundamental cooking safety rules to help them learn kitchen safety and etiquette, understand how to plan meals and shop for ingredients they need to cook those meals. By the time they're teens, they can cook for themselves and the whole family. Baketivity baking kits were created to introduce children to the fun and wonder of baking and cooking, inspire the imagination, and encourage a child to follow his or her passion for food.

What is the best cooking club for kids?

Baketivity subscriptions are available in four different packages, suitable for every budget. Our prices are lower than the competition and our ingredients are higher in quality. But what makes Baketivity such a good choice is the way our baking kits help to strengthen the relationships among the family. Each of our boxes comes with recipes that are created to get everyone in your household involved. The opportunity for learning through doing promotes positive child development, teaching better habits of communication. Teamwork is an important attribute and Baketivity baking kits promote collaboration at a young age in a safe and supervised environment.

How do you get kids to bake?

Encouraging a child to bake is no different than engaging them in any other activity. Find a way to appeal to the child's particular sensibilities, you'll garner interest quickly. Young children enjoy getting messy and baking certainly poses that opportunity. Tasting, touching, smelling, the senses can be a powerful ally in drawing a child towards baking. Our baking kit recipes engage all these senses and spark creativity, giving the child a chance to put his or her personal touch on the tasty treats you're baking together.

What can I bake with my five year old?

Young kids love dessert and sweet treats, baking with a five year old can be rather simple. Chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, strawberry cupcakes, these are just some of the ways you can get a five year old involved with baking. Let your little one nibble on some chocolate chips, lick the cake batter off the beaters, help decorate with sprinkles, candies, or other toppings of their choice. Frosting is always fun for a five year old, helping to ice the cupcakes. Muffins are also a good idea. Bread may not be as exciting for your five year old to bake as it can be a bit more complicated. But only you know your own child, find what he or she likes best and make it together in the kitchen! Just be sure to use patience and positive reinforcement and, above all, have a great time making those tasty morsels!
