Teachers are oftentimes overlooked when it comes to the end of the school year. But not this year!
There are so many simple, yet heartful, ways to show your appreciation to your child’s/children’s teachers.
Here goes:
- Hand Drawn Says It All It’s nice and all to send a card that you purchased in your local pharmacy, but when it’s homemade, then it’s even more meaningful!
Have your child draw a picture on any blank piece of paper, and sign their name on the sheet. No matter how messy or imperfect it is, it’s sure to go a long way!
2. Sweet Thanks Who doesn’t love sweets? (Besides for dentists, of course) You don’t need to spend lots of money or time on a gift for your child’s teacher. A simple chocolate or energy bar can sometimes be the thing. You can print out a personalized wrapper to wrap it in, and voila! A treat that they’ll actually enjoy and eat!
3. Classroom Gifts Want to make your child’s teacher feel like the superteacher they are? Gift them with something they can use and enjoy in class the following year. This can include a fabulous notepad, super cool pen, or even a special calendar.
4. The Universal Gift You may not want to spend money on something that the teacher may not like. Well then, a gift card is the way to go! That way, they can use it to purchase what they really want. (Hopefully they won’t pay their bills with it!)
5. Put It Into Words You’re thanking the teacher for all that they’ve done, but what have they done? Sometimes, the best way to thank them is by telling them specific compliments or by pointing out what they actually taught your child. The best is to tell what makes your child love school- that way they’ll know that they’re on the right track.
6. Write It Cards are nice but personal letters are nicer. Have your child write a thank you letter to their teacher. That way, it’s in their own words and it’s exceptionally meaningful. You can even take this up a level and have your child write it in a poem!
7. Video It Sometimes your child may put up a fuss about writing something, so why don’t you video them? This may be even more appreciated, because they’ll get to see their expression. You can even hold off doing this till the mid-summer, so that it’ll be an even bigger surprise when they get to see your child again after a break.
8. Collective Thank You This may be tricky to put together, but it really takes the cake! Contact your child’s classmates’ parents and have each of them write a thank you note for the teacher. You can then compile all the thank you notes into a thank you book that is sure to bring the teacher to tears.
9. Hands Down Being that kids are...not the cleanest…..teachers can always use some hand soap. You can pick up a delicious hand soap for them, and include this note with it as well, to add some fun.

10. Donut Time Not too many people say no to donuts. Fill up a tray with some mean donuts for your child’s teacher, and include this note to explain why.

11. Muffin Time
This can get your kids involved and the best part is that it's homemade! Bake up a batch of yummy muffins and include a card that says: "Muffin to do but appreciate you!"

However you choose to thank the teachers, keep in mind that they've worked hard to help your child develop into the best person they can be!
