Let’s go through some fun things to bake with kids. These fun baking ideas are sure to turn your next rainy day into one filled with happiness, laughter and fond memories.

Cookies With Your Picture On Them

Has anyone ever told you that “they can eat your kids up”? Well, now they can! What can be better than baking a cookie that has a picture of your kids on it? These custom picture cookies are a great idea for when you’re looking for fun things to bake with kids. The best part is that it’s a 2-in-1: you get edible photo cookies AND you get to bake them! These custom picture cookies are also perfect as a fun gift for a birthday boy or girl- they’ll love it!

The cool part is that you don’t have to use the same picture for all the cookies in the kit! You can upload a few pictures so that everyone gets a cookie with their picture on it. You can also omit the pictures on a few cookies, and instead add text to the cookies. The text can be themed according to the occasion. There are also other features available - you can add a border, you can crop and zoom pictures, you can make a collage, you can choose font types and colors, add filters AND MORE!

Here are some occasions you can use FaceBake for:

  1. “Happy Birthday!” if it’s for a b-day party.
  2. “We miss you!” if you’re sending it to grandparents or other family members that don’t live nearby.
  3. “Graduation Day!” for a niece, cousin or friend that’s graduating.
  4. “Happy Mother’s Day!” if you’re sending it to your mom.
  5. “Feel better!” if you’re sending it to a friend or family member that isn’t feeling well.

There’s so many other occasions that it can be used for as well. This cookie kit is so easy to make, and so much fun to eat- so what are you waiting for?!

Cinnamon Buns

For many of us, the scent that brings back so many summer memories, and memories of our grandparents, is the smell of homemade cinnamon rolls. Who can resist those? This kids’ baking kit gives you the exact instructions and ingredients so that you can make your own homemade cinnamon rolls. These cinnamon rolls for kids will delight everyone, and will keep them busy while they bake it and savor it.

You can even warm up these buns in the microwave for a few seconds, and serve with a scoop of ice cream, for a tasty treat! If you want to “dress up” your cinnamon buns, you can decorate them with fruits and candy. Who wouldn’t want to eat them then?

If you want your kids to bond with their grandparents in a sentimental way, then you can send a kit to your parents and order one for your kids. Once both parties have their kits, you can hop onto a Zoom call and bake together! This will help a deeper connection form between your kids and their grandparents. After all, baking is the language of the heart.

A Healthy Snack For School

So, you’re looking for fun things to bake at home? How about a healthy snack for kids? These healthy baked snacks are the perfect things for your kids to nosh on in school, after school and anytime they can use a snack. It’s like a “bundled” package- have fun baking with your kids, and stay with a healthy snack for them! Go ahead and break out the mixer.

You can have some fun with how you package these:

Wrap them in wax paper or plastic wrap. Cut down the excess paper/wrap and tape down the edges. Tie a ribbon around the paper or wrap, or print out a personalized label. You can design your own labels here or here. Your kids will love it!

If you want to take it to the next level, you can bake a few batches and:

a. Have your kids hand them out, packaged and labeled with a “Homemade with Love” tag. They can give it to their classmates, friends, teachers and principals. You can even make a label that reads “Thank you!” and they can hand it to the staff in their school that they want to show appreciation to. This can include: teachers, principals, deans, janitors, security guards, bus drivers and crossing guards.

b. Have your kids make a bake sale. The granola bars can be packaged with labels that read “Thank you for donating to charity!” and the proceeds of the sale can go to a specific charity or fund. Many times, the charity may even give a free banner to hang behind the booth, so that it’s visible who the proceeds are going to. This teaches your kids about championing and helping others. You can take them to the offices of the charity (if they permit it) and they’ll show your kids what the money goes towards. Giving breeds giving, and this is definitely a great way to start teaching about giving to others.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red velvet cupcakes don’t have to be difficult to make. When you’re looking for fun and easy things to bake, these easy red velvet cupcakes just may be the solution! You can even make these cupcakes for Valentine’s Day for your loved one. Or, your kids can make it to show their grandparents that they love them!

The origins of red velvet cakes and cupcakes are a highly debated topic, with various states and countries trying to stake claim as the creators of the red velvet cake. They first started being heard about in the early 20th century. One place it is thought to originate from is Maryland. Another group that claims it is the New York Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. They’ve dubbed the confection as “Waldorf-Astoria Cake”. Red velvet cakes were also being made in Canada. All of the restaurants and bakeries in the Eaton department stores featured red velvet cakes. The employees who were aware of the recipe were sworn to secrecy, as this was an exclusive recipe.

There are even reports that red velvet cakes date back to the time of the Great Depression. According to the claims, at that point red velvet cake got its color due to a chemical reaction between the cocoa powder, vinegar and buttermilk. The color was more of a maroon tinge.

But then a food coloring company, Adams Extracts, came up with a marketing ploy. It was during the Great Depression and they wanted to boost their sales. They displayed pictures of red velvet cake in groceries throughout the South and Midwest, hoping to bring this delicious cake to kitchens around the country.

Adams Extracts happened to have been the first company to produce red food coloring, and the people knew that. Along with every purchase made from that company, they gave a free cake recipe card and two bottles of red food coloring. The ploy worked and thousands of households started making the red velvet cake that many of us make today.

There’s the rundown of fun and easy things to bake with your kids! I hope you try some of them- let us know how it goes!
