Help Kids Collect Big Funds for the Best Causes

Help kids plan and participate in activities that let them collect money for causes they care about!

In honor of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, we’re talking about how kids can get involved with great causes to make a difference. Here is a list of ways to help kids collect money to donate to causes they care about!

1. Take Action (Literally)

If kids want to raise money, a great way is by offering services that others are willing to pay for such as babysitting, mowing lawns, or even picking up extra chores at home and asking for extra allowance. If they’re part of a school or extracurricular group, they can consider more services like washing cars.

2. Dish Out Good Stuff

Whether you host a bake sale or stir up a lemonade stand in the front yard, serving yummy food and drinks is a great way to raise money for a cause. Kids can talk to their school or sports teams about hosting a bake sale. Some states require a permit to put up a lemonade stand so check what the local laws are before you get mixing.

3. Sell Used Items

Kids can clean out their old toys and contribute to a family garage sale to make some cash to donate.

4. Auction Off New Items & Services

Ask local businesses to donate goods and services such as a basket of goodies from a bakery, a photoshoot from a local photographer, etc. Then allow people to bid on these. The highest bidder wins and donates what they bid. All money collected can be donated to the cause of choice. Parents can even help make a webpage on Facebook or elsewhere to display the available services and goods and allow people to post their bids.

5. Raise Money with a Raffle

Hold a good old-fashioned raffle night at home or school where you again get products donated to give away and allow people to pay one fee for a raffle ticket to try and win the products they like best.

6. Make It A-Thon

Host a Read-a-Thon, Walk-a-Thon, Dance-a-Thon, or any other activity that can be turned into a marathon where people can donate money for the actions that participants take.

7. Find a Business Partner

Lots of schools partner with restaurants like Applebees or stores like Walmart. In a partnership like this, a specific night or length of time is determined where businesses will donate a portion of all proceeds to the organization you ask them to.

8. Organize a Fundraiser with Selling

Last but not least, don’t forget the classic chocolate bar fundraising campaigns or more modern options such as selling mattresses, candles, flowers, and more. Baketivity offers a program like this, called Bake4Good, selling our sweet kits to raise money for your cause!

Let kids know that they can make a difference by getting involved in ways like these!
