Little Miracles at Baketivity

Hi everyone, it’s your baker Madison! I hope that everyone's 2021 is off to a joyous and healthy start. With all of the craziness that is going on it can be hard to focus on the positive and enlightening things in our lives. As soon as we remember that those positive and enlightening moments are happening everyday all around us whether we notice them or not we begin to take notice. The best part is that if we choose to see and appreciate them then they appear much more frequent than we could have ever imagined.

I believe that the best way to begin noticing the little miracles around me is by spreading positivity as much as I can. Doing this has allowed me to receive it in return each and every day. Of course, some days it seems a little foggier to see them but they are always there. Speaking of little miracles, I hosted our first live zoom classes for all kids to join in and bake our January Snowball Cookie Kits and it was AMAZING! I met some very talented, hilarious, and kind kids. Being able to bake (my favorite thing in the world if you haven't noticed) and help guide and teach kids how to do it at home is a little miracle indeed.

Not only was I able to help but there were moments in the class where I would take a break to let the kids catch up and finish whisking their dry ingredients or fold their dough. During these little breaks, I caught on to just how imaginative and kind at heart kids are. They are excited to be baking, excited to have other friends from around the country baking the same thing with them, and excited to be doing it on their own! Aside from making the most irresistible snowball cookies, a few wonderful things happened during these classes too.

At one point a woman joined in, she didn’t have a kit, a child with her, or any baking utensils. She came into the zoom to watch her grandchildren bake the kit that she gifted them. Now while I don’t know the distance between these family members I do know how special it was to see this happening. They were baking together through a computer. That sounds confusing but it’s true! And I was so thankful to be able to witness this and appreciate Baketivity even more than I thought was possible. Aside from this little unique family reunion, I watched kids' faces light up when their cookies came out of the oven and they got to roll them in powdered sugar and see their snowballs come to life. I heard the ways that they spread positivity and kindness to others. I saw the way they interacted with each other and it all revolved around a beautiful thing. Baking. We are all truly baking the world a better place.

I am so thankful for you all joining us on this journey. I hope that you all jump into these zoom classes with us because they will absolutely be happening on a regular basis now. They truly are so much fun for your kids and it allows you, the parents, to take a step back and let your kids build their confidence in the kitchen as they bake their hearts out and create their own little miracles.
