Snickerdoodles

How perfect are the cozy flavors of cinnamon and sugar this time of year?! While Snickerdoodles may be a year round favorite we believe that they deserve more attention during the holiday season. Not only are they delicious but they are so much fun to make with the family. Enjoy these with a cup of hot cocoa to really get yourself in the spirit and remember to always share your creations with us!

Recipe:
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Cinnamon
Directions: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Measure and whisk all of your dry ingredients and set aside. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar with a stand mixer and a paddle attachment on low speed or in a medium bowl with a whisk. Mix until there are no lumps and your mixture is smooth. Add vanilla and egg. Mix until fully combined. Remember to scrape down the sides of the bowl as you go. Add the dry ingredients into your bowl and mix just until your dough comes together. Set your dough aside and make your cinnamon sugar mixture. To do this, add the 1/4 cup of sugar and 2 Tbsp. of cinnamon to a small bowl and mix until it is totally combined. Next you will take your dough and scoop it into balls. As you can see in the picture above I made 2 different sized cookies. This part is totally up to you! The smaller cookies where about 1 1/2 Tbsp. sized balls while the other cookies were about 3 Tbsp. Whichever size you decide to bake, roll each dough ball in your cinnamon sugar mixture before placing on your baking sheet. The smaller cookies will bake for about 8-10 minutes while the bigger ones will bake for about 10-15 minutes. Take your cookies out of the oven and place on a cooling rack before you dig in, no matter how delicious they look and smell do your best to be patient :) Repeat the scooping and rolling process until all of your dough is used up. Enjoy!
